The Beginning has been released and it’s free to download!

Yes, finally! It’s a relief to have produced my first complete trance track – and it not being the most terrible thing in the world to boot.

The Beginning (Original Mix)

Let’s also get the links out of the way!

The Beginning Video Teaser 01You can listen to it on SoundCloud, which will allow you to get a free download of it in exchange for a follow.
It’s also available on Bandcamp, for a tiny fee (otherwise the above would be nullified).
I also made an audio reactive video for it, which is naturally on YouTube.

If you want to help me out I wouldn’t mind you liking the Photontic Facebook page. Likewise a follow on the SoundCloud page would be nice as well. 🙂

Now with this released, Photontic will sort of disappear for a little while. The plan is to work on creating a ~3 track EP, which will mean that there won’t be any trance releases until that’s done. I will still be posting on this page though with updates and WIP’s of what I’m working on.

As I’ve mentioned before the name of the track really is the beginning. It’s my first track and as such it’s not the next trance anthem or the most professionally produced/mixed/mastered track, but it’s pretty decent, I think, and is the first step to better music. After all experience is key and with The Beginning I’ve gotten a lot, so it’s now time to put that into use on creating more music.
I will talk a lot more about all of this when I make the post reflecting on the production of the track.

I hope you like The Beginning and I welcome feedback! 🙂

Stereospread “Come Back Home” EP and “My Final Refuge” single review

I have known James for a few years now, having met him online back in the days of using Reason (which he still uses from time to time, at least as far as I know, and I’ve since completely ditched). He was also one of the factors in me ending up with Studio One as my DAW, so when he asked me if I wanted to write a review of their EP “Come Back Home” I said yes (surprise!).

Stereospread is Sara Snyder and James Hopkins, and I guess the most common genre for their music is synthpop. The songs on their SoundCloud page has a few tags attached to them, like “dreampop”, “electropop” and my personal favorite (which I’m pretty sure must be made up); “shoegaze”. 😛
My main reason for liking music in this genre is that it reminds me of the 80’s, which we all know had awesome music (admittedly I think it might help being a child of the 80’s). But let’s get on with it the actual review, instead of getting lost in the wonderful world of 80’s music. 🙂

Actually before we begin I should probably tell you that the EP is free to download (with the option to pay what you want), so getting your hands on it is really rather easy. Just head on over to their Bandcamp page and you’re merely a few clicks away from having the EP.

The silence will end soon – and The Beginning cover art

I’ve been a little silent, but it’s basically because I’ve been busy. The good news? The Beginning is finished and it looks like I will be releasing it as well. This will more than likely happen very soon as I’m in the final stages of getting everything ready to do a release.

I will write a post sort of reflecting on The Beginning at some point after the release. Basically just write down thoughts of where I ended up with the track, things I learned while working on it and so on. Should be interesting, I think.

Likewise I also have another review to post here very soon, so that’s something!

I also need to compile my Annual Trance List for 2015, and I already know what my favourite track of 2015 is.

I might also start writing some tutorials here on the site (or perhaps elsewhere). A lot of them will probably be Studio One specific though, but we’ll see. I do have a few ideas for knowledge I could share (and seems to be otherwise generally missing from the internet).

At any rate I’m happy that I’ve finished The Beginning and I’m looking forward to working on new stuff, putting what I learned to good use and gain more experience, which should hopefully result in even better music in the future. 🙂

I will leave you with the cover art for The Beginning.
